"Soar" is a special piece to me. When I first saw this photograph, I deleted it because it wasn’t perfectly in focus. Now, I choose to embrace imperfection. Sure the focus is soft, but it actually evokes a feeling - just like the way our memories are often not crystal clear, but have a familiar softness to them. The emotion stays but the mental images can naturally loose focus over time. My goal with any photograph I take is that it makes people feel something. For me, when I look at this particular photo, I can hear the seagulls and waves crashing, and feel the ocean breeze and warm winter sun. The technicality of the image doesn’t matter as much if it’s powerful enough to make you feel.
